“A meaningful education is not possible without hope and love.”
– Kyle Wilson, Director
In the Yucatan, students are not required to attend high school, and often, without guidance, many children end their formal education after middle school. This standard, combined with high illiteracy rates in older generations, contributes to poverty in the area.
Constructed in 2007 as the central location for Asosciacion De Desarollo Unido en Mexico (ADU), Academia Natanael’s goal is to provide supplemental education for the children of Cacalchen and provide support to the neighboring Yucatan communities. This comprehensive child development program will improve the literacy of the Academy’s students and provide the children with opportunities to reach higher levels of learning and achieve their future dreams.
At the end of 2010, Kyle Wilson took over as director of ADU, replacing Pastor Choi Jae Hyuk. The Association’s vision was redefined to focus on serving youth through education. Partnering with local experts became key to helping the Academy connect deeper with the community. A local middle school principal, Salomon Mezeta Alcocer, joined the Academy to provide local expertise in curriculum and culture.
