Academia Natanael is the heart of the Asociacion De Desarollo Unido en Mexico (ADU), but the Association also works with surrounding villages to provide basic needs and education to the children and families.
ADU has developed partnerships in several neighboring communities:
- Cacalchen is a village of 7,000 people and the home of Academia Natanael.
- San Antonio Sodzil is a Mayan village of 500 people. ADU works closely with the Albergue Center, a dormitory for youth here.
- Sacalum is a village of 3,000 people. ADU built a water purification plant here, and operates a children’s ministry program.
- Ticul is a city of 30,000 people. ADU works in the slum areas.
- Mucuyché is a village of roughly 400 people. ADU helps kids in difficult situations who lack shoes and other basic needs.
Construction Projects
Many Yucatan families live in homes without basic essentials like running water, roofs, bathrooms or separate spaces for cooking and living. ADU has established a construction fund to begin the process of building for these families. For $1,500, a new roof or bathroom can be installed in these Houses of Hope.
San Antonio
The Albergue Center provides food, education and shelter to 55 students in San Antonio Sodzil. The center has a computer facility and a Mayan radio station.
Last Summer, Kyle sponsored a “Summer of Hope” to provide renovations to the center. The program built a basketball/soccer court with lighting, provided ground maintenance to the 38-year-old facility and installed air conditioning in the children’s dormitories.
